Magenta's Voyager Nominated for 2010 Systems Product of the Year
Voyager: the future of AV extension and switching.

NEW MILFORD, CT, September 01, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Magenta Research is excited to announce their nomination for the AV Awards 2010 Systems Product of the Year. The AV Awards are hosted each year by AV Magazine and are considered the most important awards in the UK for the professional audio-visual industry.

Magenta's newly launched Voyager Series, the world's first all-format fiber optic signal distribution platform, has been nominated as the 2010 Systems Product of the Year. The Voyager Platform is an interoperable set of transmitters, receivers, distribution amplifiers and matrix switchers, which enables any end to end configuration for extension and switching of uncompressed multi-format video and audio, RS-232, IR and 480 Mbps USB 2.0 signals over fiber at distances up to 16.75MI/30KM.

The core FiberMAX engine enables the Voyager platform to define a new price-performance curve for AV distribution over fiber, while the new product range also delivers an unprecedented number of unique features with real life benefits. Magenta's innovative Flex-VCA architecture allows each Voyager transmitter and receiver to support a wide variety of analog and digital video formats through plug and play field interchangeable modules. The ability to easily field configure, upgrade and interchange signal types including video formats greatly increases flexibility in specification, procurement, installation and troubleshooting. With built in auto format conversion and delay free HDCP switching, sources and displays of all supported video types including HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, VGA and SDI can be interconnected on the same network without the need for external converters, thereby reducing both cost and the number of potential failure points.

For installations with displays requiring mixed resolutions, the Voyager series utilizes Magenta's unique ScaleMAX technology to prevent low quality up-scaling on high resolution displays. By configuring each source to the highest resolution and then using broadcast quality downscaling for lower resolution displays, ScaleMAX technology ensures optimal content resolution on each and every display.

"With the high frequency of change in connection types and the ever increasing integration of HDCP protected content into AV installations, the unprecedented functionality, flexibility, performance and cost of the Voyager series truly makes it the future of AV extension and matrix switching," says Bob Michaels, President of Magenta Research, "and we are excited that this is being recognized in the nomination for AV Awards 2010 Systems Product of the Year."
