/Computer Trades News Articles/ - DIAMOND BAR, CA, August 16, 2007 -- Advanced Media, Inc., manufacturer and marketer of the popular Ridata brand of recordable CD and DVD media, electronic storage products, and digital media accessories, announces its new, faster, non-volatile 1.8" Flash Solid State Disk (SSD) storage medium. The Ridata SSD will be on display in the Copernio Booth -516 at the Navy 2007 Gold Coast Show at the San Diego Convention Center held on August 14-15, 2007.
"We are pleased that Copernio will be introducing our SSD and a few of our award-winning USB products at the upcoming Gold Coast Show. Based on flash-memory technology, our new Ridata SSD offers reliable, rugged, high-performance," remarked Harvey Liu, Advanced Media president. "When compared to a traditional HDD, the Ridata SSD requires less power, weighs less than half as much, offers faster boot and access times, and operates at a lower temperature with no mechanically moving parts. It is the ideal HDD replacement for any server, notebook, data acquisition devices or other portable products."
"The new SSD card offers a host of opportunities for a variety of data acquisition products. The resistance of the SSD to the harsh high humidity environments and temperature extremes the Navy experiences will have little to no impact on performance," commented Peter Berghammer, CEO of Copernio Corp.
Since it has no moving parts, the Ridata Flash SSD produces virtually no noise, no heat generation, and no vibration, while offering reliable temperature (0 to 70C) and humidity resistance that assures long-lasting data storage. It is engineered with semiconductor components and uses NAND flash memory. Importantly, it also has the same host interface as a hard disk drive, so there are no compatibility or upgrading issues. It simply plugs into a device's IDE slot.
It meets bus interface industry standard ATA/IDE also supports up to PIO Mode-4 and up to Ultra DMA 4. It has a flash media interface of 8- or 16-bit access and can support up to eight flash-media devices directly and 32 such devices through external decoding logic. A built-in ECC corrects up to RS-4 (Reed Soloman-4) symbols.
The Ridata Flash Solid State Disk (SSD) has an MSRP of $399.00/pc and is available now. As with other Ridata products, it will be available through selected retailers, Ridata distributors, and at various online outlets. Visit http://www.ritekusa.com for more information.
